| Advanced Hydration and Comfort Features The skin on your face is a sensitive surface that can easily dry out or become irritated by harsh shaving or an inadequate razor. With its Ultra Glide blades with Skin Guards and water-activated skin conditioners, the Schick Hydro 5 keeps your skin hydrated and smooth with each shave. The razor's Ultra Glide blades with Skin Guards provide more points of contact on the skin, creating a flatter, smoother surface to shave, resulting in a comfortable shave with less irritation. While most razors have conditioning strips made from a combination of conditioners and plastic, the Hydro 5 features a deep reservoir full of 100% pure conditioner that lasts up to two times longer. The Hydrating Gel Reservoir releases water-activated Aloe- and Vitamin E-enriched lubrication that forms into a gel as you shave for effortless glide and hydration. Flip Trimmer and Ergonomic Handle Activate the Hydro 5's Flip Trimmer feature for more precise trimming of hard-to-reach places. With a simple flick of your thumb, you can flip back the Hydrating Gel Reservoir so that all five blades touch the skin, as opposed to the single edging blade on most razors. In addition, the Hydro 5's premium, high-gloss ergonomic handle rests naturally in your hand for a comfortable shaving experience. The Schick Hydro 5 Blade Razor is designed to work with Schick Hydro Sensitive Shave Gel and Schick Hydro Moisturizing Shave Gel. And Schick Hydro 5 Blade Refill are also available. What's in the Box One Schick Hydro 5 Blade Razor with two replacement blades.

Better than Fusion April 20, 2010 Harvey H. Meeker (Shelton, CT USA) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I've tried the Schick Quattro and it's uncomfortable to use. I'd say it might be on part with the Gillette Mach3, but it definitely isn't as good as the Gillette Fusion. The Schick Hydro is a big step up. It has the comfort and utility of the Fusion (actually I think it might be more comfortable, but it's at least as good) and from what I can tell it also lasts longer. I can usually get a Fusion blade to last out to two weeks because I shave after showering, but at that point the lubrication strip is gone and the blades are pulling more than I'd like. The Hydro has been going strong for two weeks now and is still cutting smooth and the lubrication area keeps on working as well.
I also like that the lubrication area pulls back so that you can use the full blade for trimming and getting up under the nose area. It's a little awkward to get that section pulled back, but I find once that is done that using the main blade for those tasks is better than using the little trimming blade on the Fusion.
All in all this is a winner for Schick.
Finally something better than Fusion! April 19, 2010 Charles B. Cain (Louisville, KY) 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've been a Gillette guy for years and figured Fusion was as good as it was gonna get. The downside, obviously, has been the cost of replacement blades and of course that's how they get you. But $13+ for four replacement blades that don't really last very long? Ouch..... So today I was in Target to pick up said replacement blades when I saw the Schick Hydro 5. I have to admit I've NEVER been a Schick fan at all. I don't know what the difference in blades is (aside from number of blades) but shaving with a Schick always felt like trying to shave with a rusty butter knife. The Schick Quatro is a good example. I tried the Quatro in an effort to save money but knew after one shave it wasn't going to work out. The Hydro, however, is FAR superior to the Quatro and easily as good as the Gillette Fusion. Initially I thought the Hydro blade casing might be a little too bulky but that didn't turn out to be the case. It's a good looking razor, it works really well and best of all the replacement blades are $3 cheaper than Fusion blades.
Smooth as a baby's..... August 26, 2010 Wulfstan (San Jose, CA United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
....cheek. This is one smooth and close shaving razor. It has five- count 'em 5- blades and a gel lubricant reservoir. And I thought two blades was a major step forward! Of course, some of my "fans" will say "Wulfy- you thought metal was a major step forward from flint".
I am torn between calling this decadent overkill or just the thing we guys deserve after decades of face torture.
I really gave this thing a tough test too, letting my beard grow out for two days. No problems, although I did have to rinse it a couple of times.
Much smoother than my old razor, way closer than my best electric, and a lot better than those flint blades we used in the old days. The refills are reasonable priced too, as these things go.
Hyrdo 5, gets 5 stars June 7, 2010 Leo (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well, let me start off by saying that I have been shaving for many years. Though I am only 22, I have been through many razors in my day. I've always been a Gillette fan. I've had the Mach3, the Fusion and the Mach3 turbo. Overall, I got a good shave, but it wasn't the greatest. I then even moved on to trying the old school way of shaving, you know, the soap, the mug, the brush, the shaving oil, safety razor, etc. It worked fine, but I got the same results and wasn't worth the hassle. I was also losing hope when the price of blades started going up and being put into theft proof boxes hahaha. Gillette's are so expensive and I was tired of wasting cash. They didn't even last long, it was very upsetting. Well, A few weeks ago, My wife was at the store, and she saw the Hydro 5, four blades and shaving cream for 9 dollars. I tried the Quattro at one point, and HATED it. Well, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try the Hydro 5 out. She bought it for me and said to give it a go. So far I am really impressed. I have always heard the typical "shave with the grain" in magazines and online. Over the years, if I just shaved with the grain I would be left with an enormous amount of stubble; even when using the fusion or safety razors. The Hydro 5 cuts pretty close with the grain and honestly, I dont have to shave against the grain (upwards). It's very odd, sure there's a little bit of hair left, but it still feels smooth, looks good, and saves me time when I am in a rush. I have tried it against the grain as well and it gets very close, and does a good job. Blades are cheaper too. I love the strip with the Aloe and Vitamin E. This thing kills my Mach3 and Fusion. Give this razor a try, you got nothing to lose. You may not experience the same results, but still, it's worth giving it a chance.
p.s. I typed this really fast at work, so excuse any grammatical errors.
Fantastic Razor... Much better than the Fusion or Mach 3 July 15, 2010 A/V Man (MA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this on a whim (Wally world special razor, 5 heads and a gel for under $10). Generally I am super sensitive to shaving and have always been a Gillette guy. I usually get razor burn no matter what I do. I have tried the oils, the special creams, the gels, you name it. I was pretty satisfied with my Mach 3. Well this razor (Schick Hydro 5) is much better than anything I have ever used before. It puts my trusty Mach 3 to shame. I bought the Fusion and hated it. Now the the Hydro 5 is the king of razors in my opinion. The best parts are, the blades last longer and cost much less. I thought most razors these days were gimmicks. Well the Hydro 5 really made me a believer and now will only shave with this. Good-bye Gillette hello Schick.
